A Day of the Dead (also known as Dia de los Muertos) mask! I've always found them to be so beautiful. They are traditionally made from paper maché, but I thought I'd try my hand at a leather version which will combine the beautiful painting and design of the traditional masks, but with the durability that only leather can give.

These beautiful masks are truly wearable art. They would be perfect for Halloween, a masquerade dance, and, of course, Day of the Dead celebrations. These masks are light weight and comfortable to wear, but would look wonderful as a piece hung on a wall.

As an experiment, I tried a black mask base with all the details in metallic colors. It's all been freehanded to look lacy and delicate.

These are GORGEOUS. The metallic paint ups the WOW factor.

How on earth do you get the designs the same? I would swear you had to have used a template if I didn't know better. My mind boggles at your ability to replicate things so precisely.

I really love using the metallic paints! :D

The more often I do this design, the easier it gets. For reals, I imagine I'll be doing even more of these as October comes closer.

Well I envy your replicate ability. I wasn't created with that function...maybe I can level up one day if I hand 'round you long enough. ;)
