A Day of the Dead (also known as Dia de los Muertos) mask! I've always found them to be so beautiful. They are traditionally made from paper maché, but I thought I'd try my hand at a leather version which will combine the beautiful painting and design of the traditional masks, but with the durability that only leather can give.

This beautiful mask is truly wearable art. It would be perfect for Halloween, a masquerade dance, and, of course, Day of the Dead celebrations. This mask is light weight and comfortable to wear, but would look wonderful as a piece hung on a wall.

The base of the mask is white and the design is painted freehand in black and orange. There are painted flower pedals around the eyes, some black swirls, and a spiderweb center on the forehead. There is a cloth orange and green flower off to the side with a skull center piece. The skull has even been painted to match with a Day of the Dead design. Behind that, there is a cloth leaf and feathers in black and white.
